Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.
J is a fifty one year old refugee who has fled abuse in her country of origin. Tragically, she lost her three children in a fire and this trauma, as well as health problems and homelessness, has been making life very difficult for her. J has now been given temporary accommodation, but has few belongings and needs basic kitchen equipment, bedding, a warm coat and waterproof shoes. This would help J begin to rebuild her life here and she would be delighted with any help you can give.

Total needed £175Our client is a single parent who receives Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment to live on, and has an old mattress where the springs are poking through. She is in need of a replacement, which is second-hand, but in good order, so that she doesn't have to worry about being hurt by the springs in her current mattress. Our client suffers from arthritis and back pain, and a new mattress would make a big difference to her life at night time. We hope that you can help this woman in her need.

Total needed £150P was just about managing in Housing Association accommodation when Covid hit. With only his pension and pension credit, he got into rent arrears and was eventually evicted. Having been in temporary accommodation since then has been difficult, but he has now secured permanent accommodation. However, it is completely unfurnished and he must start again. A bed frame would prevent P from having to sleep on the floor, and help him regain some self-esteem and confidence so that he can get back on his feet.

Total needed £200S is a single mum who is suffering from depression and other health issues, due to having had to endure twelve years of antisocial behaviour from her next-door neighbour. The neighbour was moved recently and S has taken this opportunity to make a new start. This included asking Christians Against Poverty for help with her debts. S would really appreciate your help with buying a new microwave, as hers stopped working a few weeks ago and, with a teenage boy in the house, it is really missed. Any remaining money is for food vouchers.

Total needed £150I am supporting a wonderful young woman who has been through extensive and high risk domestic abuse. Thankfully, she has now moved into more secure accommodation to give her some much needed independence and safety. This young woman needs to purchase some items for herself to make her new place homely, and provide some practical solutions.
