Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.

B is a single parent who has recently moved into a new property with his four year-old son. They are looking to make a new start together following dad recently securing custody of his son. B was previously housed in temporary accommodation by a charity that helps those at risk of homelessness. He is looking for work, as well as helping his son to settle into a new school. B's only income is Universal Credit and Child Benefit, and he needs some help with furnishing their home, a fridge being his priority.

Total needed £175M has been struggling with Long Covid for two years, as well as other serious health issues. Her fridge freezer has broken beyond repair and other recent problems mean that she has no savings left to replace it. She is on Employment and Support Allowance and Personal Independence Payment, and has a teenage daughter. Being without a fridge freezer is increasing M's anxiety about her situation, her health, her daughter's future and her finances. Getting a second-hand replacement for it would relieve some of her burdens.

Total needed £200We are working with a gentleman who has poor physical and mental health. He got behind on his rent payments, due to sanctions from Universal Credit which occurred because he missed an appointment when he was in hospital. We are supporting this gentleman to engage with Universal Credit and get his claim back on track. Currently he is without any income and worrying about the rent arrears, particularly as he is on a low income. This money would clear the rent arrears and top-up his Housing Benefit.

Total needed £120Our elderly client lives alone in a residence that has no gas and that requires oil to heat the water and the house. The electric immersion heater can provide hot water for hand washing and personal hygiene, however, to get heat into the house the client needs to fill the oil tank. The amount of money requested here represents about two thirds of a tank which will improve our client's warmth.

Total needed £200Our client previously had their own personal protective equipment (PPE). Though not dismissed, our client was asked to leave. On returning to collect his personal items, he was told that they had been thrown away. Our client asked for their value, but was refused. He has found new work which needs safety footwear, however, the employer refused to supply PPE. Our client cycles to work and needs a hi-vis jacket for safety and steel toe-cap trainers for work. Having been unemployed for the previous twelve months, he is struggling to find the funds.
