£0 remaining for clothes and shoes
A and her husband are asylum seekers from Afghanistan who arrived in the UK one week ago with their children, aged eight and three. They are Sikh and their lives were threatened unless they converted to Islam. A and her family have very few possessions and are in urgent need of clothes and shoes for the whole family, as well as underwear and sleepwear. We would like to buy four pairs of shoes, four pairs of trousers, four tops, four packets of underwear and two sets of children's pyjamas.
N, who lives on her own, is struggling to manage on her Universal Credit payment, particularly as she has debts with her electricity bill. She previously worked as a carer but, due to nerve damage, is unable to work. We are requesting £200 for a cooker. Thank you for your help.
K has a problem with severe mould in her flat, which has affected her health and her bed, and she is currently sleeping on the sofa. She receives Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment, but a very low amount which barely covers costs. K has a number of health conditions including a knee injury, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety. The council is currently working on the mould condition in the flat and we are requesting £200 for a new bed for when the mould condition is sorted. Thank you for your help.
S lives with her husband and three children. For the last six months, they have not had a fully working oven and have been using one hob ring to prepare meals for the five of them. The hob is inefficient and expensive, and is costing a lot to run. S is juggling working part-time and looking after her children. Her husband is, unfortunately, unable to work. The family really need a new oven so they can cook the food they are receiving from the foodbank. Please can you help?
